The Executive Director leads and advances the organization’s mission through the delivery of strategic and operational management, membership services, communications and marketing, events and programs, fund development, financial management, industry engagement, and administration responsibilities. This remote role reports to the CAWIC President and Board of Directors.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
Strategic and Operational Management
- Collaborate with the Board to establish clear organizational priorities and long-term strategic objectives.
- Lead the development and execution of CAWIC’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the association’s mission and vision.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and operational goals.
- Shape CAWIC’s positions on key industry issues, providing strategic recommendations to the Board.
- Oversee the daily operations of the association, ensuring alignment with CAWIC’s strategic objectives and driving operational excellence.
Membership Services
- Foster and maintain strong, long-term relationships with members, driving increased engagement and ensuring members receive maximum value from their membership.
- Provide exceptional service to members by addressing their needs promptly and ensuring a high standard of customer support.
- Oversee all aspects of membership services, including member acquisition, invoicing, renewals, and engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement effective membership retention and recruitment strategies to drive growth and strengthen the member base.
- Conduct membership research on satisfaction, industry trends, and event feedback to inform strategies and initiatives.
- Cultivate and manage strategic relationships with NAWIC and other global partners to enhance CAWIC’s network and influence.
Communications and Marketing
- Identify and execute strategies to raise awareness of CAWIC across the industry, public, government, and media channels.
- Support the development of content for social media, website, and e-marketing campaigns.
- Lead the creation and execution of CAWIC’s semi-annual magazine, including editorial planning, content development, volunteer involvement, and distribution.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of promotional materials and collateral to support CAWIC’s branding and
outreach efforts. - Ensure consistent adherence to CAWIC’s brand guidelines in all communications and materials.
- Uphold the association’s positive public image through proactive and reactive media relations and outreach.
- Support internal communications initiatives to engage and inform volunteers across the country.
Events & Programs
- Work closely with the Committees to develop, implement and enhance CAWIC’s events and programs.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of CAWIC’s annual conference, ensuring a seamless and impactful event.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to drive awareness and engagement for the conference.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop and deliver an engaging and relevant conference program.
- Achieve sales targets for registration, sponsorship, and exhibitor participation, contributing to the overall success of the event.
- Coordinate CAWIC’s involvement in key industry events and tradeshows to increase visibility and engagement.
- Oversee CAWIC’s Speakers Bureau, managing speaker requests and coordinating participation in external events.
Fund Development
- Develop and submit proposals for foundations, government grants, and organizations to expand CAWIC’s revenue streams.
Financial Management
- Support the Treasurer and the VP, Finance in overseeing the association’s finances, including budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Drive revenue growth and profitability through effective financial planning, expenditure management, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Support the Treasurer and VP, Finance in providing the Board with ongoing financial tracking and insights.
- Ensure tracking and timely payment of all vendors.
Industry Engagement
- Develop partnerships with key associations and industry organizations.
- Represent CAWIC with members and industry at key events.
- Advocate for the interests of the association's members and the industry it represents through ongoing outreach with federal, provincial/territorial, and local governments.
Administrative
- Manage all Board Meetings and AGM, including scheduling Board meetings, drafting meeting agenda, preparing, and providing relevant financial reports and meeting documents, moderating the Board meeting, drafting meeting minutes, and ensuring follow-up on any action items.
- Support the CAWIC Board in developing governance policies and procedures. Maintain policies and procedures by ensuring they are properly documented, current, and adhered to.
- In collaboration with the Board, ensure the association operates in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Provide timely, organizational updates to the Board and support the ongoing internal communications and collaboration amongst the Board and its Committees.
- Define the organization’s staffing requirements and recruit, manage, and lead the CAWIC team.
- Other duties as assigned.
