What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • Administer Public Private Partnership (P3) contracts related to operation, maintenance and repair of transportation-related facilities, ensuring work is completed to contract documents and specifications
  • Monitor the P3 concessionaires’ delivery of maintenance, repair and rehabilitation operations
  • Ensure the concessionaires maintain work records
  • Monitor financial forecasts and expenditures
  • Provide analytical support to ensure effective delivery and value for money

NOTE:

  • The location of the vacancy is at 159 Sir William Hearst Avenue, Toronto; however, pending the results of the competition, consideration will be given to the successful candidate to allow them to work from one of the following locations: 159 Sir William Hearst Avenue, Toronto or 2064 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough or 1927 Kipling Ave, Etobicoke or 440 Hopkins St, Whitby.
  • This position requires frequent travel and overnight stays.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver’s licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver’s licence upon being hired.

Road Maintenance and Construction Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of the practices, procedures and standards related to the inspection and maintenance of roads, both during the summer and winter seasons
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of the repair of roads, including drainage systems
  • You have working knowledge of road construction practices, techniques, equipment and material
  • You have an understanding of the deterioration process of roads, sufficient to assess and determine the appropriateness of repair techniques and timing

Contract Management Knowledge and Skills:

  • You have knowledge of contract management and administration procedures, reporting requirements and documentation
  • You have the ability to prepare cost estimates for proposed work
  • You can read and interpret contract plans, documents and specifications to assist in negotiations and solve problems

Supervisory and Planning Skills:

  • You have proven ability to plan and lead activities within established timeframes
  • You have the ability to supervise staff and manage stakeholders in high-pressure situations

Communication, Negotiation and Computer Skills:

  • You demonstrate negotiation, oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with contractors and the public
  • You have working knowledge of computers and various software applications such as word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and e-mail

Knowledge of Legislation:

  • You have the ability to interpret and apply various acts and regulations such as the Highway Traffic Act and the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act

Salary Range: $65,174 – $91,119 Per Year
