Burnout Prevention Beyond Self-Care

Tuesday, July 14, 2020 @ 7:00 pm EST

Do you feel stressed? Does your mind ever circle in a loop, and no matter how much you try you can't seem to stop it?

Fierce women have a propensity to take on a lot, some may even say "too much", and this propensity can often leave you feeling empty and running on fumes, leading to burnout, now recognized by the World Health Organization as a medical condition of concern. If left unchecked, stress can lead to disease in the long-term.

Self-care has become a buzz word; practicing self-care is great but it might not be enough to give you the increased energy and elevated mood you are looking for. You don't necessarily have to take on less to reduce stress either - there are so many strategies to help!

In this virtual presentation, author Jenn Bruer will unpack the dangers of stress, some mitigating factors to managing stress, and how "shifting your default mind" can improve your life experiences, reduce the body's stress response, and lead to a more fulfilling life.

Besides feeling empowered and motivated by listening to Jenn Bruer's inspiring personal life testimony, participants will learn...

  • to identify the potential warning signs of stress in the body and the potential dangers
  • how specific food choices can help keep the body's stress response in check
  • what optimal sleep hygiene looks like and how this can improve stress
  • what forms of movement can help balance the stress response
  • how various adaptogenic herbs can help mitigate stress
  • how thoughts can impact life experience, illustrated by examining some research studies
  • a key strategy to increase emotional resilience, reduce anxiety and depression, increase focus and attention, as well as to observe thoughts and feelings without judgment, illustrated with a review of the evidence-based ancient practice of mindfulness

This presentation is for anyone wanting to explore some of the mitigating strategies of stress, and will be particularly helpful to those who are experiencing, or wanting to prevent, manifestations such as fatigue, apathy, low moods, sleep disturbances and/or simply the inevitable toll that stress can have on the body and mind.
