About The Project…

A time to explore the revitalization of 533 College Street, Toronto – a look into Akelius’ newly transformed office space for their Canadian team (Akelius is a global property management company) – an interior office renovation by Gillam Group. 

The 4 storey, 37,000 SF structure is a 106-year-old wood structure building is undergoing a full interior demolition and fit out made up of several phases beginning in December 2018 and completion date of December 2020.  The project scope includes the underpinning to provide additional space for a new fitness tenant, followed by the transfer basement frame being installed to support the existing structure and new rooftop patio and lastly the interior demolition and office renovation to complete the project. To date, the underpinning, basement load transfer and demolition of the 3rd and 4th floor have been completed.

Gillam Group brings exceptional capability and sophistication to projects in the ICI and residential construction sectors. Their involvement with public-private-partnership (P3) projects has greatly informed their approach; in particular, the importance of using the pre-construction period to plan the work efficiently and mitigate risks.

Project examples for Gillam Group include but are not limited to: new build and renovations, adaptive re-use, universities and colleges, industrial, data centres and healthcare.

Proper Protection Equipment is Mandatory: A reflective garment (safety vest), hardhat, safety boots, and eye protection are all required.
