CAWIC members and , friends participated in  a  Walking Tour of the Beach in toronto on September 21, 2010.

Once a summer refuge, complete with amusement park, the Beach is now a thriving Toronto neighbourhood of longtime residents and young families. The main street is Queen Street East, lined with shops and small apartment buildings. Side streets with many charming houses and gardens connect to Queen and to the boardwalk along the sandy shoreline. The tour included a visit inside one of the city's most beautiful libraries.

Our guide, Marta O'Brien, is an architectural historian who has been sharing her knowledge of our city's architecture and history since 1994. Marta develops and teaches architectural history courses at several of Toronto's universities and colleges, and through Citywalks presents walking tours and illustrated lectures for historical societies, cultural organizations, and private groups.
