CAWIC members and friends were privileged to attend an eye opening tour or the new and,  by now,  famous Koerner Hall of the Royal Conservatory of Music. The  elegant new concert hall with it's superb acoustics was designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects and Aercoustics Engineering Inc. The building was actually the last phase of a major renovation of the old Royal Conservatory building which took place over several years. One of the many interesting aspects of the project is the manner in which the new construction of the concert hall is connected to the old building. Located next to the Royal Ontario Musuem on Bloor Street, the old conservatory and new concert hall blend beautifully. The design is mindful of the urban location facing busy Bloor street, but also takes advantage of the park like setting of Philosophers' Walk, which is  visible through the glass curtain walls of three levels of concert hall lobbies.
