CAWIC Bursary Awards
One of CAWIC’s mandates is to promote education and encourage young
women to pursue careers in the construction industry. To this end, each
year we organize several fund raising events, the proceeds of which are
allocated to a Bursary Fund. In order to help us identify potential
applicants for bursaries, we approach various post secondary
institutions in the GTA that provide diploma or degree programs in
construction related disciplines. Each year our Bursary Committee
selects winning candidates from a short list of applicants selected by
the participating institutions. Qualifications are based on criteria
that include, among other things:
- Enrollment in a full time diploma or degree program at an institution in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area)
- Clear career objectives relating to the construction industry
- Evidence of financial need
- Leadership qualities and involvement in community activities
- Interest in activities that further the advancement of women in construction
- Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
Bursary recipients are given a one year free student membership in
CAWIC which provides invaluable educational and networking
opportunities to young women who are about to embark on a career in
construction.
Students enrolled in construction related programs may apply directly to CAWIC on or before March 31st.
